Kosciuszko National Park Post-Bushfire Hut Rebuild | Part 3: Vickerys Hut
Vickerys Hut is a humble log cabin located beside Jounama Creek at the Northern end of Kosciuszko National Park. The hut was originally built in 1938 by sheep and cattle graziers Ross and Noel Vickery, and in 2023, was rebuilt following the devastating 2020 bushfires. Vickerys Hut is the third of 11 Kosciuszko huts to be restored and reopened, following Sawyers Rest House and Delanys Hut.

Super surprised this was filmed in Australia. I'm very new to cycling (probably haven't even racked up 24 hours of riding yet) but I'm picking up my first bike tomorrow; a Triban RC 120 GRVL from Decathlon. I would love for this guy to service it one day!
Great little clip. Why did you choose Mt Diablo? Other than the fact that it is the most beautiful climb ever :)
Give me 3h of this
Simply wow, mind over matter for sure, you need to have your shit together to do the AAWT
Nice story and some cool local history. :)
Cheers Peachy!
Have they thought of extending their efforts to the Bogong huts.
Beautiful!
I Love these videos... it shows IDIOTS who STOLE LAND that was BEAUTIFUL, then they DESTROYED IT, and are now TRYING TO FIX IT 😂🤪🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Good man🤝
Can you please link or mention the holistic management course that was mentioned at the start of the video? I’d greatly appreciate that resource!
👌🏻🙏🏻🇧🇷🇧🇷🎥
Good on ya, mate. Ride ride ride.
❤
Another beautifully filmed and narrated trek!
Great video, I loved both the scenery and the commentary.
He was cleaning his bick and pore old bick ! With incompetent bick users, that way you need this individual!
Very nice video ❤, we are planning to do the hike. Thank you for uploading the video.
Awesome Vid! I also tried the fabled northern descent off Jagungal when I did the AAWT last year. Ended up finding a creek and following that down just after the weather station, was an absolute mission, you guys really captured that type 2 fun!
Thanks Ethan. We also followed what could well have been that same creek but opted to stay out of it where possible due to the relentless ankle traps and possibility of snakes. Definitely character building!
Was that just hot soapy water run through a spray or sand gun you were using to clean the frame?
Very nice video
Cheers Sam!
I love that you tried to think about me, a woman who opted to NOT go up Jagungal on my last trip that way because I couldn't be bothered with the overgrown track haha. Epic work ladies! It does make me keen to go back for a loop.
Yeah but we didn't run through the middle of the night with literal frozen feet 😂
Good stuff!
great stuff!
Absolutely awesome. Loved the opening scene with the eagle - stunning!
Take salt to remove leaches
Absolute respect to anyone who has a crack at the AAWT Dom and especially through the Vic High Country end of it. It takes guts and solid resolve to work through the whole of the AAWT. Oh and just came across Toms Outdoors and some great videos. Great channel.
You guys rock with that carefree attitude and derring-do, enjoyed the video immensely. And it is a lovely part of the country. Only hiked to the Tooma via Dargals so far (that's where the good fly fishing is :) )
Glad you enjoyed it Norm! That would've been a great trip also. Keep any eye out on the Toms Outdoors Fly Fishing channel for some future fishing videos with Anne. There's plenty of fishing trip plans brewing!
Inspiration girls! I did it clockwise some twenty years ago. I thought I had completed my last major walk some two years ago, it was the second time walking the Overland Track, Tasmania, this time with my daughter. The first time was solo. I am now 73 years old, and passed my pack onto my younger daughters' partner. After watching your amazing coverage, I think I will ask for it back. As I said, inspirational!
Thank you for the kind words! We set off anti-clockwise just in case I didn't make it past the first day... so I wouldn't have too much of a climb back to the car (the team very kindly didn't tell me this reason until after our trip!). At 73 years young maybe you should borrow that pack back, talk about inspirational! - Anne
Beautiful scenery, quality camera work and entertaining to watch! Love the story line and how you incorporated the perspectives from Anne, Anna and Chloe. Looking forward to the next adventure!
Appreciate that thanks mate! I'll be putting the hard word on them for round two ASAP! Anne may take a bit of convincing but i'm sure she'll come around 😂 - Dean
Wow, that opening shot of the wedge tail eagle. Incredible 👌
A seriously beautiful creature!
Absolutely amazing cheers .Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world. second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower
Sounds like an incredible place!
@@TomsOutdoors absolutely dear. For information about the route and journey of moses peak read the whole description of my pin video. Thank you
Loved this video, awesome Scenery, not to mention the adventure, well done girls for taking the short cut...just adds to the adventure and unknown...did you only see the one snake, I would have thought you might have seen a few. Either way Jagungal Wilderness ...Loved it...cheers.
Thanks heaps Matt! We did see a few more but that big copperhead was a serious sized specimen. Anne had a run in with a red belly while fishing but less snakes than expected all together. There must have been plenty around through the off track sections but we all did our best to mentally block out that fact 😆
Don't ever stop taking these kind of trips (together).... no matter what. Wonderful!!
Drove motorhome along this route accidently thanks to gps error. Road in shocking condition.lots of corrugated sections..42 km in mostly poor driving condition.Took 4 hrs, down to 30kpm in some sections..Tom must have driven it when it was just graded.
Hi Brian. A motorhome could be a little slow going. It's recently had quite a bit of work done to the gravel road sections and wouldn't be an issue for most vehicles now. Take it easy and enjoy the scenery!
@@TomsOutdoors I went to Brindabella a week ago. The dirt on the ACT side is pretty rough (has been for years). NSW side was better and evidence that they're working on it. I don't think the ACT gov cares too much about it. I have seen it worse, and also better but not for a long time.
Love To Run Till The End Of My Path ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💯😎
Next thing we know Chris, you will be lining up for Cloudride or the Prologue? Love the Krampus, you can’t go wrong there especially getting it from BRT.
I bought some GASMATE Isobutane canisters to try out for the cold mornings on my GasMate camp stove. I think they are 98% Isobutane and 2% Propane. Then I will use the standard Butane canisters in the warmer weather and later in the day on colder days when it warms up bit. Thanks for the explanation video.
Superb video.its given me a kick up the arse,I’ve been romancing my bike for a while now.time to give it some love and “ride” the bloody thing 😊 👌
this made my day............and absolutely hits the spot
Great series . I hope to make my own series paddling this section some day . Thanks for pioneering it
Great trip guys would love to do it myself sometime
Great film. I’m traveling to Ireland this fall and hoping to ride along the west coast. I’m hoping to find a bike shop in the states to purchase a bike where they have a similar approach to cycling. I don’t need a top of the line bike but something that has been well crafted.
I’m so glad that regenerative agriculture is becoming more and more widespread! We need to make it the only way to farm, and look after our land 🙏🏽💚🌱
Great little adventure! Could even taste that 🥩 sandwich.
Cheers! The sandwich was the highlight for sure.
AUSTRALIA FUCKING SUCJS
Chris from Toms Outdoors, and Tim from AdVANture ST your content inspired me to get out with my family and explore northern Kosciuszko. Love both your content.
Cheers! Great to hear
I loved this film. Thanks
I wish someone would follow me on my bikepacking trips with a steak sandwich. I’m hungry for meat and bikes now. Cheers
This can be arranged 🤠
